In today’s episode, I wanted to refocus on why the new podcast name and the direction of the podcast. It’s been a while since I last recorded an episode under Dream Italian Journeys. Today, Dream Italian Weddings and Travel is born. The focus of this podcast is for those interested in planning their luxury destination wedding and travel in Italy. I decided to change the focus of the podcast, ever so slightly, as I was getting lots of questions about getting married in Italy.
Under Riveting Trips, we do curate holidays elsewhere, but as many of you know my passion is Italy and all that it has to offer. If you’re fortunate to frequently travel to Italy, perhaps I can share with you some lesser-known authentic experiences. And if you are planning on getting married in Italy, I know it can be daunting planning your wedding from thousands of miles away. The purpose of this podcast is to serve you.
Thanks again for joining us today. Let’s start talking about 3 reasons Why YOU should consider getting married in Italy.

What’s the number one reason to get married in Italy?
Everyone wants a wedding to remember, right? Well, having a destination wedding for couples is one that all guests will remember. But that’s not the number one reason people get married in Italy. The real number reason that people want to plan a destination wedding in Italy is because it’s more intimate.
You’re probably asking me, how is having a wedding in Italy more intimate?
Great question!
Now I want you to sit back, relax, and envision having your special day in Italy.
A few days before your wedding, you arrive in Italy and check into your private villa or hotel. Your room is situated in a beautiful Italian town. Where? Perhaps in Venice? Florence? Milan? Rome? We don’t know, yet.
The night before your wedding you have your well-organized rehearsal dinner with your closest friends and family who have traveled miles to share your union.
The next time they will see you is the following day at your wedding ceremony.
Where will you hold your ceremony? At a private villa? In a church? Next to a Roman ruin? Options in Italy are endless.
After your ceremony, you will join your guests to celebrate your wedded bliss. What kind of reception vibe are you? Sublime and simple, crazy and loud, or something in between? Working with me and Riveting Trips allows us to find the perfect location for your wedding week.
Normally, the day after, you will have a brunch reception with your guests. It’s really up to you how much longer you want to hang out with your guests — but most likely you want to do want to spend time with them. Some guests stay longer and travel with the newlyweds for a few days before returning home or continuing their travels.
Now we move onto the second reason to have a destination wedding in Italy: Budget.
Do you know what the average cost for a wedding in the United States is? Guess.
$15,000? $35,000? $60,000 or more?
If you take the national average, it’s about $34,000 — and that’s not including any of the engagement items, like rings, wedding attire, and engagement dinners, and engagement photo shoots. This average includes venue fees and costs of food and beverage and hiring your wedding professionals.
However, the average number of $34,000 varies depending on where you live. If you live in a major metropolitan area like New York City – the average is closer to $80,000 to $100,000 for the wedding and reception alone. Sure, you may think that you will not spend that much on your wedding — but you do know that the supermajority of couples spends 10-15% over their intended budget. If you’re spending that kind of money on a wedding, don’t you at least want it to be memorable for you and your guests?
Generally, in Italy, you are getting a bigger bang for your buck. Even at the 5-star luxury hotels, costs per person tend to be lower than a 3- or 4-star restaurant in the United States.
What generally happens when couples decide to get married in Italy is that they will splurge for the guests who do attend. That means having a rehearsal dinner, post-wedding brunch, and other activities with their guests. This brings us back to the number one reason why you will get married in Italy — it’s an intimate affair. One that you and your guests will remember for eternity.
Ok, what about now?
Have you considered getting married in Italy before listening to the Dream Italian Weddings and Travel podcast?
Have I convinced you just a little bit?
Well, hopefully, reason #3 will encourage you to consider a destination wedding in Italy.
Off we go to the third reason why every couple should consider a destination wedding in Italy!
I actually think the third reason should be the number one reason you get married in Italy.
Ok, drum roll… the third reason you should get married in Italy is because it’s fricking Italy!!!
I’m assuming you have already traveled to Italy before and fell in love with it. Otherwise why else would you be listening to this podcast?
If you’ve been to Italy before and are considering a destination wedding in Italy, then you should just do it. There is hardly any other country in the world that offers a variety of venues and settings to get married. From the coast to the hill towns, Italy offers a spectacular backdrop to your wedding. And because it’s in the Mediterranean the climate is mild and seasonal year-round. You can get married in Italy atop a snowy mountain in the Italian Alps or during a breezy fall harvest day in Tuscany.
Italy is home to spectacular venues, but more accustomed to working with out-of-town engaged couples.
And after your wedding, you can continue your love affair traveling in Italy and throughout Europe.
Have I convinced you yet to consider having your wedding ceremony in Italy? Just a bit? Yes, please!
If I have convinced you, just a little bit, why not contact us to discuss the wedding of your dreams!
Ciao ciao for now!
