In today’s episode, I want to focus on a frequently asked question about getting married in Italy: How can foreigners get married in Italy?
Dream Italian Weddings & Travel Podcast: Episode 10 Who can get married in Italy?
Under our company Riveting Trips, we do curate holidays elsewhere, but as many of you know my passion is Italy and all that it has to offer. If you’re fortunate to frequently travel to Italy, perhaps I can share with you some lesser-known authentic experiences. And if you are planning on getting married in Italy, I know it can be daunting planning your wedding from thousands of miles away.
Let’s start talking about who can get married in Italy?
Is Italy LGBTQ+ friendly?
So you’re probably wondering, well Jeanie, you’ve already aired a few podcasts about getting married in Italy – so can’t we?
And the answer is YES!
But this is just to clarify what kind of marriages you can have while in Italy.
First, I want to ensure all of my LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer +) listeners out there that Italy is a LGBTQ friendly wedding destination. I do know there are some countries that are popular destination wedding locales but are not LGBTQ friendly at all. In fact, the only place that is friendly to all people is the hotel or resort hosting your wedding.
Do you really want to have a wedding in a country that will not accept you or your guests? Why not get married in Italy where LGBTQ weddings are welcomed and embraced? And love is love.
What about people of different ethnic backgrounds? Are we accepted in Italy?
So now you’ve learned that Italy is open to people of all sexual orientations. Thus, it shouldn’t be any surprise that people of all ethnic backgrounds are welcomed to marry in Italy.
In fact, if you want to have a religious ceremony that is not affiliated with the Roman Catholic or Protestant Christian Churches, you can in Italy.
I help couples of various faiths celebrate their wedded bliss in Italy. Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, and other faiths are celebrated during destination weddings in Italy.
If you want to incorporate some of your cultural heritage, for example, a traditional tea ceremony, Riveting Trips can help you incorporate those elements to customize your wedding.
Is this your second or third marriage?
I just want to let you know that Italy is open and welcoming of all weddings. So if you want to have the wedding you couldn’t have when you were younger, then we can help you do that.
In fact, many older couples who already attended their friends’ weddings in their 20s want to have a “classier” wedding. This isn’t to say that your friends’ weddings weren’t luxurious, but it probably wasn’t if they got married in their 20s.
Now you’re a little bit older, have more financial wherewithal, and are ready to have a wedding beyond your dreams. So let’s do that together. We can help you coordinate the Italian wedding you’ve always wanted.
