For wine enthusiasts, Lake Iseo offers the perfect blend of scenic lake views and the nearby Franciacorta wine region, famous for its sparkling wines. Less-touristy and ideal for a relaxed getaway, Lake Iseo stands out with its authentic Italian ambiance.

Lake Garda

The largest of the Northern Italian lakes, Lake Garda offers a diverse array of experiences. From relaxing in Sirmione or Desenzano, famous for their historical sites and luxurious spas, to adrenaline-pumping water sports in the windy northern region, there’s something for everyone. It’s also conveniently located for day trips to cities like Verona, adding a dose of rich history and culture to your itinerary.

Tips for First-Time Visitors

• Swimming: You can swim in all the lakes, but local knowledge is key to finding the safest and cleanest spots. Lake Como, in particular, hides some welcoming beaches suggested by locals.
• Pairing Lakes: For first-timers, pairing Lake Como with Lake Maggiore offers a contrast between the glamor of Como and the tranquility of Maggiore. Alternatively, for a more active vacation, Lake Garda’s numerous sports activities complement the serene explorations around Lake Como.
• Transportation: Minimize car use; water taxis and organized tours are safer and more efficient. In mid-lake areas, ferries, including car ferries, provide frequent and spacious transport options.
